Join the 5-day challenge and learn to play the Waltz No. 2 composed by Dmitri Shostakovich (rus. Дмитрий Дмитриевич Шостакович, 1906 – 1975).

There are 2 levels for you to choose from: beginner and intermediate.

  • Can you play in higher positions? Choose intermediate.
  • Are you playing in the first position? Choose beginner!

No matter what level you choose, it will be challenging on both levels! Intermediates, you’ll get challenged to play in higher positions. Beginners, the challenge for you will be playing legato (connected bow strokes) and short spicatto strokes.

Immerse into this beautiful waltz while practicing your intonation as well as connected and short bow strokes. Good luck with the challenge!

While studying this piece, you’ll practice:

  • at the beginner level: notes in the 1st position
  • at the intermediate level: notes in the 1st, 3rd, and 4th positions
  • legato bowing
  • spiccato bow stroke
  • playing a waltz with an accompaniment
